summer sessions

October 11, 2023

I went on several photo walks and hikes over the summer in hopes of sharing on my blog and photography Instagram page more regularly. Although my initial plans were derailed, I still wanted to share some photos from this summer. I was really good about taking a camera with me on every outing, and it really paid off. One of my favorite photo walks ended up being on a trip to the grocery store. So before autumn progresses any further, here are some of my favorite shots from the summer.

I went for groceries one rainy afternoon and followed a patch of wildflowers by the grocery store's parking lot. I ended up in the middle of an abandoned subdivision, complete with road signs and overgrown streets. I had so much fun walking around vacant streets. It felt like I was the only person on the planet for the hour I spent shooting. The following photos were taken with my Panasonic Lumix GF1, an old m4/3 camera I got for around $50 last year. Take these as proof that old cameras don't equate to bad cameras. I was really, really happy with how these shots turned out.

These last several shots are noticeably different from the rest. I played around with colors and had fun with color grading.  I'm trying to put myself in settings that are unfamiliar to me to experiment and practice.

The more I went out and shot the more I figured out what exactly draws me in when making photos.

Until next time.
